1.6 Ghost Apocalyptic Part Three

Image
1.6 Ghost Apocalyptic Part Three: F****d Up Kind of Dream:  Seth finds himself under the protection of a wandering spirit that has been keeping him safe from the restless dead.  Recommend listening: Ghost Apocalyptic Part Three: f****d up kinda dream by Artemas Background: Since these were intended as quick. short stories I felt like I needed to get to the point or punchline quickly. The GA world is ripe for story plucking but I wanted to keep things moving. They were always going to team up but added some conflict anyways to show Seth’s stubbornness and independence. He had a feeling that he was being watched, being helped, but ignored the fact.   The Ghost Apocalyptic blog is the digital destination for readers seeking independent post-apocalyptic webcomics, dark dystopian fiction, and supernatural survival lore. 1.5 - Final Boy

Image
1.5 - Final Boy: The final girl horror trope is lost on all involved as a group of students are picked off one by one by a stalking killer. Who’s the killer and who will survive? Recommend listening: One Night/All Night by Justice and Tame Impala Index: Ryan - The “final boy”. Ryan is complicated but you wouldn’t think so at first. From the outside he looks like an oversexed, undermedicated, narcissistic, bully. While some of that is true, in reality he was very intelligent, very well read and generally understimulated and underchallenged. While some thought he was a bully there was really only one kid he pushed around but that kid was a bit of a masochist who paid for the privilege of public humiliation. Always the entrepreneur, Ryan accepted this deal. While generally mischaracterised and underestimated Ryan actually has a bright future if he applies himself. If this were a horror movie his proclivities would definitely get him killed pretty quick. Brenda - The popular girl. She...

1.4 - Ghost Apocalyptic Part Two

Image
1.4 - Ghost Apocalyptic Part Two: Slow Dance:  Survival brings Seth to an abandoned and haunted city. In these once heavily populated areas, the restless dead roam for revenge.  Recommend listening: slow dance by Artemas Index: Mckay - A casualty of the apocalypse, Mckay’s ghost-spirit was kicked from his lifeless body. After some wandering, Mckay happened upon a survivor, Seth, whose spirit exuded such a purity that McKay chose to use what abilities he had to protect this survivor. It also doesn’t help the situation that he has quietly fallen in love.  Background: Bizzaro Bub, Slapped ham, YouTube. We came across some spooky videos one day. Some are eye rollingly obvious while others leave the idea open that they could be true. Like a magic trick. One video had a pair of arms reaching out of a cabinet that were braiding a little girl’s hair. Firstly, NOPE! But it left me with some creepy thoughts about exploring abandoned haunted buildings. Being too scared to do t...

1.3 - Angel-Cat and Valkyrie

Image
1.3 - Angel-Cat and Valkyrie:  It’s Halloween and Jennifer and Angela are ready to party, maybe. Unfortunately, directions to the party were not clear and they find themselves in an unfortunate situation.  Recommend listening: Ugo by The Dead Pirates Index: The Angel-Cat, Jennifer and The Valkyrie, Angela - Jennifer and Angela deserve their own entries here but let’s face it, when they started dating they became two inseparable peas in a pod. While Angela is more analytical and Jennifer is a bit more pragmatic, they both seem to balance each other out. Adorable really. They both even work at the same coffee shop while attending school. Jennifer wants to become a writer while Angela loves working with animals.  Trevor - Barista and co-worker of Jennifer and Angela. He sometimes attends school but likes the party life a bit much and is kind of a burn out. It’s cool to party but don’t make your entire personality, okay, Trevor?  Cultists - Always on the lookout fo...

1.2 - Ghost Apocalyptic Part One

Image
1.2 - Ghost Apocalyptic Part One: Shall We Celebrate?:  In the first entry in the Ghost Apocalyptic story line, which is sprinkled throughout the series, Seth finds himself scavenging the scorched earth for food and supplies. Who or what will cross his path?  Recommend listening: shall we celebrate by Artemas  Index: Seth - Post apocalyptic survivor. Solitary with a strong capacity for survival,Seth is just trying to live as best as one can while fighting or evading starving marauders and vengeful ghosts. Little does he know that he wouldn’t have made it as far as he had unless he had some spiritual protection. As a result of the psychic maelstrom exuded during the apocalypse, Seth has been left with a certain psychic sensitivity for the dead. Ghosts - Echoes of the dead that roam the Earth. Most mind themselves, unaware of the living around them, but some are very present and conscious enough to interact with the living. Their influence is generally benign but they...

1.1 - New Hire

Image
1.1 - New Hire: It’s Jeremy’s first day on the job at DNAC Inc.!  Is he prepared for the new position and what exactly was he hired to do?  Recommend listening: Hunter by San Cisco Index: D.N.A.C. Inc. - An unbelievably large, and growing bigger all the time, shadow company with their fingers dipped in many pies. They would like you to think that they are Definitely Not A Cult but they super definitely are a cult whose main goal is to shepherd the earthy birth of a Demon-Lord which they hope will bring about a sort of anti-rapture. Jeremy - The new hire to D.N.A.C. Ambitious and ready to climb the corporate ladder. Maybe too ambitious and willing to cut corners. He lied so well on his D.N.A.C. application that the company thought he was chosen by a divine dark providence.  Rob - The recruiter. A “scout”, looking for “good candidates” and also uses a lot of “quotation fingers” while talking.  April - The secretary. It would take a lot to get April to look up fro...

Part 1: The Order of Steve

Image
Ghost Apocalyptic Anthology Part 1: The Order of Steve:  Each part in this unraveling story will carry a theme. Part one’s theme is spooky death cults!    Recommend listening: Artichoke by Cibbo Matto Background: Once the stories started to show common themes I wanted some unifying ideas to help link the stories a bit better. Already my brain was actively fighting the idea of an anthology series by trying to connect everything. Looking at the themes that began once I had a handful of stories the first unifying idea would be cults. This could be legitimate cults, having a cultish personality or getting wrapped up in a social cult. The song Artichoke by Cibbo Matto provides the perfect atmosphere for the mystery surrounding the narrator.    The Ghost Apocalyptic blog is the digital destination for readers seeking independent post-apocalyptic webcomics, dark dystopian fiction, and supernatural survival lore. Beginning (Bookend)

Image
0 - Beginning: The first entry for Ghost Apocalyptic!  Our narrator begins his story which will unfold as the Ghost Apocalyptic story continues.   Recommend listening: Artichoke by Cibbo Matto Background: I tried to think of a framing device for this comic series, like the Creep or the Crypt Keeper. Someone to introduce the concepts for the upcoming section, giving that “something” to keep in mind for each story like the old ECW comics. This is what we ended up with. When I realized I needed a cherubic twink-god as reference I immediately thought of Sean Ford.  The Ghost Apocalyptic blog is the digital destination for readers seeking independent post-apocalyptic webcomics, dark dystopian fiction, and supernatural survival lore.
